The ballistic helmet for PASGT (Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops) is designed to survive direct fire from fragmentation weapons rather than rifle bullets, such as grenades, mines, mortars, explosives, and shotgun shells. A two-layer suspension system is installed in the helmet to keep it 1.3 cm away from the head in order to preserve good ventilation and effectively limit the external impact to protect the head from shock.
